Europcar Australia has an excellent opportunity for a passionate Qualified Mechanic to provide services on site at our various locations in the Gold Coast & Brisbane region. Your ability to remain calm under pressure and work unsupervised will be applied in a clean well-kept workshop on new / recent model vehicles. Your excellent interpersonal skills, communication skills, and team spirit will serve you well in this position.

Your responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

n

- Service vehicles in accordance with company and manufacturers specifications
n
- Positive knowledge of the tyre industry – tyre rotation and repairs
n
- Ferry vehicles as and when required
n
- Ensure an acceptable level of spare parts stock is maintained
n
- Perform tasks and responsibilities in a manner consistent with the company’s values of integrity, innovation and excellence.

To be successful in this role, you will need a current full manual drivers license, basic understanding of computer systems and an MTA Motor Mechanic Accreditation (or similar motor mechanic certification) is desirable. Diesel Mechanic experience would be advantageous.

Car rental will see the light a few years later, across the Atlantic, but its development will be stopped by the first and then by the Second World Wars.

In the aftermath of the war, a Parisian entrepreneur revived the idea: “If you can’t afford to buy a car, why not rent one when you need it?”.

His name was Raoul-Louis Mattei and in 1949, he created "L'Abonnement Automobile": a company that would later become the Compagnie Internationale Europcars, then Europcar.

Its headquarters, located 11 rue du Champ de Mars also included a rental agency.

In 1951, l’Abonnement Automobile was the first company for car rental without a driver and its fleet counted 750 4 CV.
