Job Description
We are responsible for enabling Army's digital network integration efforts to ensure interoperability across Land, Joint and Coalition environments.
n
An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced Systems Engineer to join the newly established Integrated Sensor Architecture National Office (ISANO). This role will play a critical part in supporting the adoption and integration of the Integrated Sensor Architecture (ISA) across Army tactical networks and future capability programs.
n
Working within the LNIC Modelling and Standards Team, the successful candidate will provide systems engineering expertise, technical governance, integration assurance, and Test & Evaluation (T&E;) support for Army's ISA implementation and prototyping activities.
Key Responsibilitiesn
n
- Develop and maintain Systems Engineering Management Plans (SEMP).
n
- Develop and maintain Test and Evaluation Master Plans (TEMP).
n
- Define stakeholder needs, requirements, architecture artefacts, verification and validation plans.
n
- Prepare and support design reviews, requirements reviews, and test readiness reviews.
n
- Exercise delegated technical authority for ISA prototyping activities.
n
Integration and Technical Assurancenn
- Support the establishment of ISANO within the Army's Land Capability environment.
n
- Provide technical advice regarding the implementation of the Integrated Sensor Architecture (ISA).
n
- Support capability integration across Land Domain tactical networks.
n
- Ensure compliance with applicable Defence engineering, architecture, assurance, and governance frameworks.
n
- Assist Army projects integrating ISA-compliant sensor capabilities.
n
Stakeholder Engagementnn
- Engage with Defence,
industry, engineering and technical stakeholders.
n
- Contribute to strategic planning and technical direction of ISA implementation.
n
- Support senior leadership through technical assessments, reports and briefings.
n
- Collaborate with Army, CASG, project offices and technical authorities.
n
Risk and Governancenn
- Identify, analyse and manage technical risks.
n
- Ensure engineering governance compliance within ISANO product lines.
n
- Support assurance and compliance activities relating to system integration and capability delivery.
n
- Contribute to verification, validation and operational test activities.
n
Reportingnn
- Prepare fortnightly project status reports.
n
- Contribute to monthly project situation reports (SITREPs).
n
- Produce engineering documentation, technical artefacts and presentations.
n
- Provide engineering advice and recommendations to Defence stakeholders.
n
Requirements Mandatory Qualifications and Experiencen
Applicants must demonstrate:
n
n
- Bachelor's Degree (4 years or higher) in Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Mechatronics or related discipline.
n
- Eligibility for membership with Engineers Australia or equivalent professional body.
n
- Significant Systems Engineering experience within ICT,
Defence or complex technology environments.
n
- Experience supporting complex C4 (Command, Control, Communications and Computing) systems.
n
- Eligibility to obtain and maintain an NV1 Security Clearance.
n
- Demonstrated experience conducting systems integration, verification, validation and Test & Evaluation activities.
n
- Ability to hold or exercise engineering design authority.
n
Highly Desirable Skillsnn
- Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng).
n
- More than 10 years' experience in Defence C4I systems engineering.
n
- Experience with military communications, networks, software-intensive systems and interoperability standards.
n
- Experience in safety-critical systems or software assurance.
n
- Technical leadership and stakeholder engagement at senior executive level.
n
- Experience supporting Defence acquisition, capability development, and systems integration programs.
n
- Strong understanding of communications, networking protocols, and data standards.
n
- Previous Australian Defence Force (ADF) service.
n
- Experience working within Defence, CASG, Army Headquarters or related Defence organisations.
n
- Knowledge of Defence Capability System (DCS) processes.
n
- Defence engineering governance and Land Worthiness processes.
n
- Project management experience including scheduling, risk management and reporting.
n
- Experience leading multidisciplinary technical teams.
n
Working Arrangementsnn
- Primary work location: Symonston, ACT.
n
- Full time onsite attendance is preferred.
n
- Limited remote working arrangements may be considered.
n
