Lead a skilled garden maintenance team across ACT with ongoing work, career growth and a strong safety culture Your New Company Hays Trades & Labour is partnering with a leading landscaping and grounds maintenance contractor delivering high-quality services across commercial, government and community-based projects throughout Canberra. Due to continued growth, we are seeking an experienced Garden Maintenance Team Leader to join a well-established organisation that values safety, teamwork and career development. As a Garden Maintenance Team Leader, you will lead by example while working alongside your team to ensure all gardening and grounds maintenance activities are completed safely, efficiently and to a high standard.

Your duties will include: n

- Leading and coordinating daily garden maintenance activities
n
- Providing hands‑on support and mentoring team members on‑site
n
- Mowing, hedging, pruning, weeding, mulching and fertilising
n
- Identifying and reporting plant health or site maintenance issues
n
- Conducting site risk assessments and promoting a safe work environment
n
- Liaising professionally with clients and site stakeholders
n
- Ensuring all works are delivered to scope and quality standards
n





What You'll Need to Succeed nn
- Previous experience in garden or grounds maintenance
n
- Experience leading or supervising small teams
n
- Current Driver's Licence
n
- Ability to operate garden maintenance equipment safely and efficiently
n
- Solid communication and interpersonal skills
n
- Ability to work independently and manage daily workloads
n
- Strong commitment to workplace health and safety
n
- Desirable: Certificate III in Horticulture or equivalent
n
- Previous experience maintaining commercial or government sites
n
- Knowledge of plant health management and pest control practices
n
