We are looking for experienced Disability Support Workers to support an adult participant living in Supported Independent Living (SIL) who has a progressive neurological disability and complex physical, mobility, communication and personal-care needs.

n

This is a rewarding, hands-on role for someone who is calm, patient, reliable and confident supporting complex physical needs while always maintaining the participant's dignity, choice, control and independence.

About the Role n

You will provide high-quality support with:

n

n
- n

Personal care including showering, dressing, grooming, toileting and continence care.

n
- n

Transfers, positioning, repositioning and manual handling.

n
- n

Wheelchair support and community access.

n
- n

Pressure care and skin integrity monitoring.

n
- n

Communication and supported communication strategies.

n
- n

Mealtime and dysphagia support.

n
- n

Community participation, appointments, shopping and social activities.

n
- n

Medication assistance within organisational policies and role requirements.

n
- n

Following individual support plans, risk assessments, manual-handling procedures and allied-health recommendations.

n
- n

Working collaboratively with other support workers and allied-health professionals.

n

Complex Mealtime Support n

Experience with the following is highly desirable:

n

n
- n

Experience with dysphagia,



texture-modified diets and thickened fluids is highly desirable.

n
- n

Direct feeding and drinking assistance.

n
- n

Appropriate positioning and pacing.

n
- n

Recognising signs of swallowing difficulty.

n
- n

Understanding choking and aspiration risks.

n

n

Participant-specific mealtime and communication training will be provided where required.

Communication Is Key n

We are particularly interested in workers who understand that person-centred support starts with listening and respecting the participant's communication style .

About You n

You will ideally have experience supporting people with:

n

n
- n

Complex physical or neurological disabilities.

n
- n

Huntington's disease or similar progressive neurological conditions.

n
- n

Significant mobility limitations.

n
- n

Involuntary or unpredictable movements.

n
- n

High physical support needs.

n
- n

Complex personal care.

n
- n

Manual handling and transfers.

n
- n

Wheelchair use and accessible community participation.

n
- n

Dysphagia and mealtime management .

n
- n

Significant communication difficulties.

n
- n

Pressure care and repositioning.

n

n

Most importantly, you will be patient,



observant, respectful, safety-conscious and genuinely person-centred .

n

You must be comfortable working with complex and changing needs and remain calm during transfers, involuntary movements, swallowing difficulties and other higher-risk situations.

Physical Requirements n

This is a hands-on support role . Applicants must be physically capable of safely undertaking personal care, wheelchair support, transfers, positioning/repositioning and other manual-handling duties in accordance with current support plans and procedures.

What You'll Need n

Applicants should have, or be able to meet, the relevant organisational and NDIS requirements, including:

NDIS Worker Screening Check.

n
- n

Current First Aid and CPR.

n
- n

Relevant Disability, Individual Support or Community Services qualification, or equivalent experience.

n
- n

Relevant organisational compliance requirements.

n
- n

Current driver's licence where required.

n
- n

Willingness to complete participant-specific training and competency assessments.

n
- n

Current flu vaccination

n
