Job Description
Our client, Chain of Fools, is seeking an experienced and motivated Chef to join its team on a full-time basis. Located in Mentone, the café offers a creative Indo-Western fusion menu featuring a range of breakfast, brunch and lunch dishes.
Key Duties n
n
- Prepare, cook and present a variety of breakfast, brunch and lunch dishes in accordance with established recipes and presentation standards.
n
- Plan and develop menu items in consultation with management, including seasonal and Indo-Western fusion dishes.
n
- Monitor the quality, taste, portioning and presentation of dishes throughout preparation and service.
n
- Estimate food requirements and assist with food and labour cost control to support effective kitchen operations.
n
- Order food supplies and maintain appropriate stock and inventory levels based on operational requirements.
n
- Check the quality and freshness of ingredients and ensure appropriate storage and stock rotation.
n
- Coordinate food preparation and cooking activities to ensure meals are prepared efficiently and consistently during busy service periods.
n
- Prepare sauces, accompaniments and other components required for the café’s menu.
n
- Cater for customer dietary requirements and menu variations where required.
n
- Work closely with management, kitchen staff and front-of-house staff regarding food preparation, menu items and service requirements.
n
- Demonstrate cooking techniques and provide guidance to other kitchen staff on food preparation and cooking procedures.
n
- Maintain and enforce high standards of food safety, hygiene, kitchen cleanliness and safe food handling practices.
n
- Assist with training and supervision of kitchen staff where required.
n
Requirements nn
- Cert IV or Diploma in the relevant field
n
- Minimum 1 years of Full-time relevant Work Experience as a Chef.
n
- Extensive knowledge of culinary techniques, food trends, and menu development.
n
- Excellent knowledge of food hygiene and safety regulations.
n
- Financial acumen in managing kitchen costs, inventory, and food waste.
n
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and public holidays.
n
- Good understanding of food safety and hygiene requirements.
n
- Ability to work effectively in a busy kitchen environment.
n
- Strong organisational and time-management skills.
