Laminex is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Mechanical Fitter & Turner Apprentice to join our maintenance team at our MDF manufacturing facility in Toolara, Queensland.
n
This is an excellent opportunity to learn your trade in a modern, large scale industrial environment while working alongside highly skilled tradespeople. Throughout your apprenticeship, you’ll gain hands on experience maintaining, repairing and improving a wide range of manufacturing equipment that keeps our plant operating safely and efficiently.
About the Role n
As a Mechanical Fitter & Turner Apprentice, you will complete a Certificate III in Engineering – Mechanical Trade while receiving practical on-the-job training.
n
Working under the guidance of experienced Mechanical Fitters, you will develop skills in:
n
n
- Preventative and breakdown maintenance of industrial plant and equipment.
n
- Installation, alignment and commissioning of mechanical equipment.
n
- Bearings, gearboxes, pumps, conveyors, hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
n
- Precision measurement, fitting and assembly techniques.
n
- Fault finding and mechanical troubleshooting.
n
- Safe use of workshop machinery and hand tools.
n
- Welding and fabrication tasks where required.
n
- Reading and interpreting engineering drawings and technical manuals.
n
- Working within a computerised maintenance management system (MEX).
n
- Maintaining a strong commitment to workplace health, safety and environmental standards.
n

- Previous experience with machinery, automotive work, farming equipment, fabrication or trade-related hobbies will be viewed favorably but is not essential.
