The Role n
nThis is an prospect for an experienced Financial Accountant to join a large Queensland State Government organisation in corporate finance.n
nAs Senior Financial Accountant, you ll support statutory reporting and provide technical accounting expertise across the finance function.n
Key responsibilities include: n
n

n
- Perform and review general ledger reconciliations, journals and month-end accounting activities, ensuring the integrity of financial records
n
- Monitor and strengthen internal controls, financial systems and assurance activities, proactively identifying financial risks and compliance issues
n
- Contribute to the CFO Assurance Plan and associated assurance activities across the department
n
- Provide technical financial accounting advice and support to stakeholders on accounting, financial management and administrative matters
n
- Maintain and improve financial policies, procedures and controls, including the Financial Management Practice Manual (FMPM) and financial delegations
n
- Ensure financial accounting records and systems comply with accounting standards, audit, legislative and departmental requirements
n
- Contribute to ongoing improvements in financial management practices, processes and controls
n
- Support financial system enhancements, upgrades and testing as required
n




- This position typically contributes to financial statement and year-end activities as required throughout the reporting cycle
n
- Support post-EOFY financial accounting and audit activities, including responding to internal and external audit matters where required
n

Highly Desirable:
n

n
- Previous Queensland State Government financial accounting experience
n
- Strong understanding and practical application of Australian Accounting Standards
n
- Strong working knowledge of SAP ECC6 and/or SAP S/4HANA
n
