An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced Logistics Manager to join a leading Australian organisation operating within the manufacturing sectors. Based in the northern suburbs of Melbourne, this pivotal role is responsible for coordinating production planning, procurement and logistics activities to ensure operational efficiency, cost effectiveness and exceptional customer service outcomes. You will play a key role in managing logistics and supply chain operations, including inventory management, transportation, and supplier relationships, whilst leading a dedicated Logistics team.
Key responsibilities
- Develop and maintain rolling production and supply plans to align sales forecasts, supply requirements and inventory levels.
- Design, implement and maintain production plans across multiple sites to ensure timely raw material supply, manufacturing and customer deliveries.
- Monitor production performance and adjust schedules to address supply chain disruptions or changing customer requirements.
- Oversee inventory management to ensure optimal stock levels, accurate reporting and cost control.
- Lead the transition from spreadsheet-based planning processes to an integrated ERP platform.
- Ensure compliance with all safety, quality and regulatory requirements.
- Manage inbound and outbound logistics activities to achieve efficient, safe and cost-effective transportation outcomes.
- Negotiate and review freight agreements to ensure competitive rates and service levels.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, contractors and internal stakeholders.
- Lead, coach and develop the Logistics team, including the establishment and monitoring of key performance indicators (KPIs).
About you
- Minimum 5 years' experience in a similar Planning and Logistics leadership role.
- Strong knowledge of production planning methodologies, including MRP, JIT and Lean principles.
- Extensive experience in inventory management, transportation and warehousing operations.
- Proven experience working within high-volume or complex manufacturing environments.
- Strong understanding of Australian Chain of Responsibility (CoR) requirements.
- Experience using ERP/MRP systems .
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and strong proficiency across the Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Demonstrated ability to lead teams, drive change and deliver continuous improvement initiatives.
