Intermediate Accountant - Business Service & Tax n
The Intermediate Accountant specialising in Business Service & Tax, will work within a highly regarded accounting and advisory firm to provide high-quality taxation, business accounting, bookkeeping and compliance support to a diverse portfolio of clients. The successful candidate will have 2–3 years of relevant accounting experience and be confident working across a broad range of accounting functions, including tax accounting and bookkeeping.

The role requires strong attention to detail, sound knowledge of Australian taxation and accounting principles, a professional client service approach, and the ability to work independently while contributing positively to the wider team and continuous improvement initiatives.
The Role: n
Preparing and lodging income tax returns for individuals, companies, trusts and partnerships.
n
Preparing and lodging Business Activity Statements, Instalment Activity Statements and other statutory obligations.
n
Preparing tax schedules, tax reconciliations, provisions, reports and supporting working papers.
n
Assisting with tax planning, identifying lawful tax-saving opportunities and escalating recommendations to senior accountants.
n
Assisting with ATO correspondence, reviews and audits, and maintaining accurate taxation records.
n
Researching relevant taxation legislation and applying Australian tax requirements to client matters.
n
Preparing annual financial statements, management reports, balance sheets and profit and loss statements.
n
Preparing asset,
liability and capital account entries by compiling and analysing accounting information.
n
Completing general ledger reconciliations and investigating financial discrepancies and variances.
n
Assisting with month-end and year-end reporting, budgeting and cash flow forecasting.
n
Analysing financial performance and preparing explicit
n
Assisting senior accountants with business advisory, structuring and consulting matters.
n
Providing accurate financial information and practical accounting support to clients and internal stakeholders.
n
Providing bookkeeping services for a portfolio of clients, including accounts payable and accounts
n
Liaising professionally with clients to obtain accounting, taxation and supporting information.
n
Maintaining strong client relationships and delivering responsive, accurate service.
n
Consistent accounting practices across the firm.
n
Working collaboratively with senior accountants, advisors
Key Skills and Experience: n
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce or a related discipline.
n
2–3 years of relevant accounting experience, preferably within a public practice accounting firm.
n
Confidence across tax accounting,
business accounting and bookkeeping functions.
n
Sound knowledge of Australian taxation laws, accounting principles, regulations and standards.
n
Experience preparing financial statements, income tax returns, BAS and IAS.
n
Experience with bookkeeping, payroll and account reconciliations is preferred.
n
Ability to prepare, interpret and explain financial statements and accounting information.
n
Proficiency in accounting software such as Xero, MYOB or similar platforms.
n
Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel, Word and Outlook.
n
Excellent attention to detail, organisation, accuracy and time management.
n
Ability to work with complex financial data, meet deadlines and manage competing priorities.
n
Strong written and verbal communication skills and a professional client service approach.
n
Ability to work independently, use initiative and contribute effectively within a team.
n
CA or CPA studies, or a willingness to commence professional qualifications, are highly regarded.
