Huzzah is a new Melbourne venue opened at the start of the year by a founder of The Local Taphouse, GABS and Stomping Ground.

JOB DESCRIPTION: BEER CHAMPION

Since opening earlier this year, Huzzah in Glen Iris has been steadily building a reputation for its excellent venue, energy, offer and hospitality. Now we’re ready for the next stage, dialling up the beer experience further.

We’re looking for a Beer Champion to join our awesome crew to help shape Huzzah into a new beacon for independent beer culture.

You’ll work closely with owner Steve Jeffares (co-founder of Stomping Ground Brewing Co, GABS Festival and The Local Taphouse), while reporting to the Bar Manager day-to-day.

The role:

- Part-time (or full time for the right candidate) – weekend work is required
- Be a gun behind the bar across everything - beer, wine, cocktails, the lot
- Curate and evolve a cracking 15-20 tap list across a wide range of styles
- Keep things fresh with regular new releases and beers worth talking about
- Stay on top of quality - clean lines, fresh kegs, great pours
- Build strong relationships with the best independent breweries
- Develop and run Huzzah’s beer training program
- Help dream up and run fun, memorable beer events
- Support pricing, procurement and a tight bottle and can list
- Help introduce and champion a hand pump

You:

- You have hospo experience across beer, wine, cocktails, the lot but probably have worked at venue(s) with an indie beer focus (e.g. brewpub, taproom,



beer bar)
- You froth the froth - but you’re not a beer snob
- You love creating great experiences for people, wherever they’re at
- Robust beer knowledge - styles, breweries, what’s good and why
- Solid all-round bar experience
- You know your way around a draft system (essential)
- You can train a team without sounding like a textbook
- You care about the details, but keep it fun
- Certified or Advanced Cicerone accreditation is a bonus, not a dealbreaker
