Hope Harbour provides NDIS supports that help people live the life they choose. We're looking for a compassionate, reliable Mental Health Support Worker to support participants with psychosocial disability to build skills, confidence and independence in their homes and communities.

Hope Harbour provides NDIS supports that help people live the life they choose. We're looking for a compassionate, reliable Mental Health Support Worker to support participants with psychosocial disability to build skills, confidence and independence in their homes and communities.
Key responsibilities
- Provide person-centred support in line with each participant's NDIS plan, goals and support plan
- Support participants with daily living, routines, medication prompts, meal preparation and household tasks
- Encourage community participation, social connection and engagement in meaningful activities
- Build rapport and trust, using a recovery-oriented, strengths-based approach
- Recognise changes in a participant's mental state or wellbeing, and respond and escalation appropriately
- Follow behaviour support plans, risk management plans and safety protocols
- Accompany participants to appointments and activities, including transport where required
- Write accurate, timely progress notes and incident reports
- Maintain skilled boundaries, privacy and confidentiality
- Uphold the NDIS Code of Conduct and the NDIS Practice Standards at all times
Essential criteria
- Current NDIS Worker Screening Check (or willingness to obtain one before starting)
- Working with Children Check (Employee)
- Right to work in Australia
- Current driver's licence and access to a reliable vehicle (for community access roles)
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to remain calm, patient and non-judgemental
- Sound understanding of the NDIS and a commitment to participant choice and control
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Reliability, punctuality and flexibility, including availability for weekends and sleepovers (available in near future for female staff)
Desirable criteria
- Certificate IV in Mental Health, Disability, or Community Services (or a related qualification, or currently studying)
- Experience supporting people with psychosocial disability, such as schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, anxiety or PTSD
- Current First Aid and CPR certificates
- Training in Mental Health First Aid, de-escalation or trauma-informed care
- Experience with digital case notes or care management systems
- Lived experience of mental health recovery or caring, or cultural and language skills that reflect the communities we support
