About the role n
The role focuses on building local connections, facilitating workshops and discussions to support community resilience initiatives that reflect local strengths, risks, and priorities.
n
Working collaboratively with councils, community organisations, and emergency services, the officer guides communities through each phase of the RediCommunities process — from engagement and assessment to action planning and evaluation — ensuring inclusive participation and sustainable long‑term resilience outcomes that align with Red Cross humanitarian principles and emergency management frameworks.
What you will bring n
n
- Knowledge and expertise and/or lived experience in disaster resilience, recovery and community engagement
n
- Practical skills in working with communities to build resilience, facilitate engagement and support locally led outcomes
n
- As an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person, demonstrate a level of knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures, community and country
n
- Ability to communicate sensitively and effectively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, including genuine and transparent consultation and negotiation
n
- Ability to deliver training, workshops, and resources.
n
- A Driver's licence and Working with children check (or the ability to obtain one) are mandatory requirements of the role

Work flexibility : Australian Red Cross operates under a hybrid working model. This role will require two days to be worked from the office.
