The Opportunity n
We are seeking an experienced Part-Time Financial Accountant to join our team and provide accurate and reliable financial accounting support across our organisation 4 days a week.
n
This role provides an exciting opportunity for an experienced finance professional to join a small, supportive environment and become a key contributor to our ongoing financial processes.
n
The successful candidate will initially work closely with our current Director of Finance and Bookkeeper to gain a thorough understanding of our systems, processes, reporting requirements, and aged care-specific finance activities. Through a handover period, you will develop confidence and familiarity with our operations before progressing into the ongoing standalone Financial Accountant role.
n
This position would suit someone who enjoys working independently, values accuracy, and is looking for a role where their finance expertise can make a meaningful contribution.
What you’ll do n
You will support the organisation by:
n
Maintaining accurate financial records, including general ledger accounts, journals, reconciliations, and supporting documentation.
n
Reviewing and processing financial transactions to ensure accuracy and completeness.
n
Completing regular bank, balance sheet, and general ledger reconciliations.
n
Supporting accounts payable and accounts receivable processes.
n
Supporting resident billing processes, subsidy reconciliations, and aged care funding-related financial activities.
n
Supporting payroll-related financial processes and maintaining accurate payroll records.
This role is responsible for processing the end-to-end payroll for the facility.
n
Completing the Mirus timesheet management project and supporting the successful implementation and ongoing use of the system.
n
Providing ongoing maintenance support for Mirus and liaising with the Mirus Support Team regarding system queries and improvements.
n
Preparing monthly financial reports, reconciliations, and variance analysis.
n
Supporting month-end and year-end financial close processes.
n
Assisting with the preparation of QFR, ACFR, and ACNC reporting requirements.
n
Supporting budgeting and forecasting activities.
n
Assisting with audit preparation by providing financial documentation and responding to information requests.
n
Maintaining accurate records to support compliance with aged care funding requirements and organisational policies.
n
Working collaboratively with the Chief Executive Officer, Bookkeeper, care teams, suppliers, and external stakeholders.
About you n
You are a detail-focused finance professional who enjoys maintaining accurate financial information and providing dependable accounting support.
n
You will ideally have:
n
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or a related discipline.
n
You will ideally hold (or be working towards)
a CPA or CA qualification, with demonstrated experience in financial accounting and reporting.
n
Previous experience as a Financial Accountant, Accountant, Assistant Accountant, or similar finance role.
n
Experience within aged care, healthcare, community services, or not-for-profit environments is highly desirable.
n
Strong understanding of accounting principles, reconciliations, financial reporting, and compliance requirements.
n
Experience supporting month-end processes and preparing financial reports.
n
Experience with accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and billing processes.
n
Confidence working with financial systems and Microsoft Excel.
n
Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
n
Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities.
n
Solid communication skills and the ability to build positive working relationships.
