Job Description
n
Fortis Talent is partnering with an established Sydney commercial construction business looking to appoint an experienced Project Manager to join its growing projects team.
n
This is a excellent opportunity for a PM who enjoys variety rather than being pigeonholed into one sector or project type .
n
The project portfolio is genuinely diverse – spanning commercial fit-outs and refurbishments, remedial works, building upgrades, fire damper and compliance upgrades, minor works and broader commercial construction projects across Sydney.
n
You’ll take ownership of projects from initial handover and planning through procurement, construction and final completion, working closely with clients, consultants, subcontractors and the internal delivery team.
n
This is a hands‑on PM role . You won’t be one of several PMs sitting across one large project – you’ll have genuine ownership, direct client contact and responsibility for driving your projects to a successful outcome.
The Role n
Depending on project size and complexity, you may manage an individual project or a portfolio of smaller works concurrently.
n
Your responsibilities will include:
n
n
- Manage projects end-to-end across programme, cost, quality, safety and delivery
n
- Coordinate subcontractors, consultants, suppliers and internal site teams
n
- Develop and manage project programmes, procurement and key milestones
n
- Maintain strong relationships with clients and key project stakeholders
n
- Manage project budgets, forecasting, variations, progress claims and commercial outcomes
n
- Oversee design, services and technical coordination where required
n
- Identify and manage project risks, compliance requirements and delivery issues
n
- Drive projects through practical completion, handover and close‑out
n
About You n
We’re open-minded about where you’ve come from.
n
You may currently be working with a commercial builder, fit-out/refurbishment contractor, remedial builder, projects/minor works division or specialist contractor and be ready to take broader ownership of projects.
n
What matters is that you’re a capable, hands‑on construction PM who understands how to get a job delivered.
n
Ideally, you’ll bring:
n
n
- Proven Project Management experience within commercial construction
n
- Experience across fit-out, refurbishment, remedial, building upgrade or compliance works
n
- Strong understanding of construction methodology, programming and subcontractor management
n
- Commercial capability across budgets, procurement, variations and forecasting
n
- Confidence managing multiple trades and stakeholders rather than one isolated package
n
- Ability to work autonomously and solve problems without needing layers of management around you
n
- A practical, adaptable approach – comfortable moving between different project types, sizes and scopes
n
Why Consider It? n
If you’ve spent your career delivering the same type of project repeatedly, this role offers something different.
n
You’ll gain exposure to a mixed portfolio of commercial construction projects , from fit‑outs and refurbishments through to remedial and compliance‑driven works, giving you broader technical and delivery experience.
n
You’ll also join a business where you can have genuine ownership of your projects, work closely with senior management and clients, and be recognised for the outcomes you deliver.
n
Salary is $150k-$180k + super, depending on experience.
n
If you’re a hands‑on Project Manager who enjoys variety, autonomy and taking ownership of projects from start to finish, we’d love to hear from you.
