Convergint is seeking an experienced Project Engineer to join our Central Technology Team. This is an exciting opportunity for a technically skilled professional with strong electronic security and building automation experience to take responsibility for the engineering, programming, troubleshooting and technical delivery of assigned projects.
n
Working across both field and office environments, you'll play an important role in ensuring projects are delivered to a high technical standard while providing outstanding support to our customers.
About the role n
The Project Engineer is responsible for a broad range of project engineering activities, including project design and documentation, programming, troubleshooting, system integration and technical support.
n
You'll analyse plans, specifications and contracts to determine project requirements, support projects through design, planning, delivery and close-out, and work closely with Project Managers, Sales and other technical colleagues.
n
You'll also act as a key technical contact for customers, helping ensure the successful delivery and ongoing performance of security systems and integrations with Building Automation Systems.
Your responsibilities will include n
n
- Project Engineering: Analyse plans, functional specifications and contracts to determine overall project requirements and provide technical advice throughout the project lifecycle.
n
- Design & Documentation: Prepare and review shop drawings, wiring diagrams, technical documentation and project submittals based on project plans and specifications.
n
- Programming & Troubleshooting: Prepare system databases and programming, troubleshoot technical issues and identify effective solutions.
n
- Systems Integration: Support custom systems integrations, system upgrades, audits,
database management and the configuration of network systems and equipment.
n
- Project Delivery: Support project commencement, planning, delivery, installation, commissioning and turnover activities.
n
- Technical Support: Act as a technical resource for Project Managers and Sales teams, providing advice on appropriate products, systems and installation requirements.
n
- Customer Support: Serve as a technical point of contact for customers and help ensure a high level of customer satisfaction throughout project delivery.
n
- Onsite Support: Provide onsite technical assistance during installation, commencement and project turnover.
n
- Quality & Compliance: Ensure engineering work and project documentation meet established quality standards and project requirements.
n
- Mentoring & Training: Share technical knowledge and provide mentoring and training to less experienced engineering colleagues.
n

Overall, you'll play a key role in ensuring our security and building automation projects are technically sound, well documented and successfully delivered for our customers.
What we're looking for n
n
- Experience: Ideally a minimum of five years' relevant experience within the security industry.
n
- Technical Knowledge: Solid knowledge of engineering principles and practices relating to electronic security systems, building automation systems and fire alarm systems.
n
- Programming & Troubleshooting: Advanced programming capability and a proven ability to diagnose technical problems and develop effective solutions.
n
- Data Centre Experience: Previous experience working in a Data Centre environment will be highly regarded.
n
- Networking & IT: Solid networking and IT skills, particularly within Security and Building Automation environments.
n
- Software Skills: Highly proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel, along with AutoCAD. Experience with BIM360 or Revizto viewing software is highly regarded.
n
- Project Management: Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
n
- Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Electronics, Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
n
- Certifications: Product-specific certifications are preferred, with applicable industry and/or IT certifications required.
n
- Licences: A valid Australian Driver's Licence and Security Licence are required.
n
- Flexibility: Comfortable working across both field and office environments, with frequent jobsite visits and overnight travel required.
n
