Disability Support Worker (Community Engagement and Daily Life)

Disability Superstar with experience with Neurodivergent, and LGBTQIA+ folk!

Are you passionate about making a difference in the community and improving the lives of people with a disability? YES? Keep reading!

Clients requiring support in below locations ASAP in:

- South Brisbane: 3 days a week for 3-4 hours (up to 12 hours)
- Manley West: Occasional Sundays 8 hours.
- Petrie: Every second Saturday (weekly friday afternoons for 2 hours or FN for 4 hours)

This role is ideal for candidates who have:

- Initiative and a willingness to learn
- An open mind and respect for diversity (LGBTQIA+, First Nations Australians, -International cultures and religions)
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to build rapport with participants and team members
- A passion for growth-based practices including capacity building and dignity of risk
- Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team

Successful candidates will also possess:

- Driver's Licence (No restrictions)
- Reliable vehicle with comprehensive insurance
- Working with Children Check (Blue Card)
- NDIS Worker screening check (Yellow Card)
- All NDIS training modules available on the NDIS Quality and Safeguard Commission website (completed previously or willing to obtain)
- First Aid and CPR certificates (or willing to obtain)
- Current Police check (or willing to obtain)

Ideal, but not essential:

- Experience in Disability support (highly preferred)
- ASD/ADHD/Mental Health work experience OR Lived Experience




- Experience with children with disabilities (highly preferred)
- Certificate III or IV in disability

Tasks & Responsibilities:

- Assistance with daily tasks and activities
- Community access and community inclusion
- Emotional and mental health support
- Behaviour support (some clients)
- Personal Care (some clients)
- Transport help to appointments, therapies, social events, shopping and more
- Learning opportunities
- Home maintenance and domestic support
- Encouraging healthy and positive family relationships and friendships
