Chinova Resources is a private Australian resources company owned by the Shanxi Donghui Group of Companies, with principal activities focussed in North‐West Queensland. The company has existing operations at Osborne, south of Cloncurry, as well as several development projects and extensive exploration activity on a large tenement holding in the region. Chinova has other open pit and potential underground projects expected to commence. Key projects include the Osborne copper-gold processing facility, the world’s highest grade molybdenum and rhenium deposit; and Mount Elliott, our flagship project, which contains one of the largest copper-gold, mineralised systems discovered in Australia.

We are seeking a motivated and experienced Production Engineer to join the Mining Team, sharing Chinova’s values and its commitment to safety and the environment.

About the role

The Production Engineer is responsible for providing technical engineering support to the underground mining operation to ensure safe, efficient and effective delivery of the mine production plan. The role is responsible for developing, monitoring and optimising short-term production plans and schedules, coordinating mining activities and providing engineering solutions to support safe and productive underground mining operations. The role also provides technical input into mine planning, production forecasting, operational improvement initiatives and the implementation of mining systems, standards and processes.

Key responsibilities

Lead and promote a zero-harm safety culture where all workers and contractors actively participate in hazard identification and risk management





Ensure production engineering activities comply with applicable Queensland mining legislation, including the Mining and Quarrying Safety and Health Act 1999, associated Regulations and Codes of Practice

Develop and maintain short-term underground production plans and schedules aligned with the approved mine plan and production targets

Coordinate daily and weekly production activities with Mining Supervisors, Shift Supervisors and operational personnel

Monitor actual mining performance against planned production, development, tonnes, metres, grade and other relevant operational measures

Identify production constraints, bottlenecks and opportunities and develop practical engineering solutions

Provide technical support to mining operations to achieve safe and efficient production outcomes

Work closely with Geology to incorporate geological information, grade control and reconciliation outcomes into production planning

Work closely with Maintenance to identify equipment constraints and improve equipment utilisation and availability

Contribute to the development and implementation of short-, medium- and long-term mine plans

About you

Bachelor of Engineering degree in Mining Engineering or equivalent

Eligibility for registration as a professional engineer in Queensland,



where applicable

Minimum 3 years' relevant mining engineering experience

Underground hard-rock mining experience

Demonstrated experience in production engineering, mine planning or operational technical services

Demonstrated understanding of underground mining methods and production processes

Demonstrated ability to develop and manage mine production schedules

Strong analytical and problem-solving capability

Demonstrated commitment to safety leadership and risk management

This is a permanent FIFO prospect on a family friendly 8/6 roster. Our selection process involves interviews, skills assessment, and pre-employment medical.
