Job Description
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a 2–5+ years PQE Insurance Lawyer to join the Melbourne office of a well-established Australian commercial law firm.
n
This is an excellent prospect for a lawyer with experience in general liability who is looking for greater autonomy, quality work, strong mentoring and a clear pathway for career progression.
The Opportunity n
Working within the firm's insurance practice, you will primarily act on a broad range of general liability matters, with some opportunity to gain exposure to professional indemnity work.
n
You will work with a diverse client base across a range of industries, including:
n

- Medical and dental practices
n
- Legal and accounting professionals
n
- Construction and associated industries
n
- Commercial businesses
n
- Other professional and corporate clients
n
n
The role is suited to a lawyer who is ready to take ownership of their matters and develop their practice within a supportive team.
About You n
You will be a motivated insurance lawyer with approximately 2–5 years' post-admission experience who:
n
n
- Has experience in general liability matters
n
- Can manage files with increasing autonomy
n
- Has strong legal research, drafting and analytical skills
n
- Is confident communicating with clients and other stakeholders
n
- Enjoys working collaboratively within a team
n
- Is commercially minded and focused on delivering high-quality outcomes
n
- Is keen to develop their technical expertise and progress their career
n
- Is willing to contribute to the development and mentoring of more junior team members as they progress
n
n
Experience in professional indemnity will also be viewed favourably, although it is not essential.

You will join a close-knit Melbourne insurance team led by an approachable and supportive Partner who genuinely invests in the development of his team.
n
The team includes experienced practitioners across Partner, Special Counsel, Senior Associate, Associate and Solicitor levels, together with graduates, law clerks and legal support staff.
n
The Melbourne insurance practice works closely with colleagues in the firm's Sydney and Brisbane offices, providing exposure to a broader national insurance practice and a wide range of matters.
n
The Melbourne team is looking to grow their insurance practice, creating an opportunity for someone joining at this stage to play a meaningful role in its continued development.
