About the service: n
The Medicare Mental Health Services are free and you do not need an appointment, referral or Medicare card to visit a Medicare Mental Health Centre. The new services in Devonport, Burnie and Outer Hobart are co-funded by the Australian and Tasmanian Governments, to provide a streamlined approach to support better mental health and social wellbeing across the country.

The service is tailored to the needs of the community in Tasmania and provides a combination of peer-led recovery and clinical support.
n
The Medicare Mental Health Centre provides a safe, welcoming and supportive environment for people experiencing psychological distress, allowing them to:
n

- Identify alternatives to presenting to the Emergency Department
n
- Access support from trained mental health professionals within their community
n

- Based in Burnie, TAS
n
- Permanent, part time (2 days / week) opportunity- one of the work days must be Friday
n
- Paying on SCHADs level 4 plus Super
n

Role Overview: nn
- Mentor and support consumers in a person-led, strengths focused and recovery-oriented way to support hope and promote resilience,
and who models the possibility and longevity of recovery;
n
- Build respectful, professional and appropriate relationships with consumers based around conversations which draw from personal experiences and emotions to support people in their journey of recovery;
n
- Inform and contribute to employees learning and service understanding, and advocate on systemic issues impacting people living with mental health issues.
n
Requirements: nn
- Cert IV in Mental Health Peer Work, or a willingness to complete
n
- Lived experience of your own mental illness and a rich understanding of your own processes of recovery and proactivity in managingwellbeing
n
- A willingness to purposefully use your own story to help others further their own understanding of recovery
n
- Ability to foster and maintain respectful, professional relationships with consumers, staff and organisations
n
- Ability to demonstrate initiative and work independently
n
- Computer literacy
n
- Must be eligible to apply/currently hold a WWCC
n
- Must hold/be willing to apply for NDSI worker screening clearance
n
n
