About the Role:We are seeking an Inpatient Specialist Psychiatrist for a locum placement at a regional private hospital in Wangaratta, VIC. This contract runs from 4 January to 17 July 2027. You will work in a supportive regional environment with close collaboration between nursing, allied health and specialist teams, gaining valuable experience outside a major metropolitan centre. The hospital serves the local community and the wider North East Victorian region, with modern diagnostic facilities and multidisciplinary support.
- Provide specialist psychiatric assessment and treatment for inpatients with acute and complex mental health presentations
- Lead clinical decision making and risk assessment within the inpatient setting
- Participate in case reviews and multidisciplinary team meetings
- Collaborate closely with nursing, allied health and other specialist teams
- Provide consultation liaison support for patients across the hospital as required
- Contribute to treatment planning, discharge planning and coordination of ongoing care
- Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation

About You:
- AHPRA registered Medical Practitioner with specialist registration in Psychiatry
- Experience in inpatient adult psychiatry
- Confident managing a broad range of acute and complex mental health presentations
- Works effectively both autonomously and within a multidisciplinary team
- Available for the full contract period
- Eligible to work in Australia
