About the role

As an Underwriting Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting our Underwriters through policy administration, data management, and operational activities, while developing the skills and experience needed for future progression into an underwriting role. You will work closely with our Underwriters and Operations team, helping to deliver high-quality service, maintain operational excellence, and support the continued growth of Aviva Syndicates Australia.

Key responsibilities

- Assist with the logging, tracking, and administration of underwriting submissions.
- Prepare and maintain underwriting files, records, and supporting documentation.
- Monitor shared mailboxes and workflow queues to ensure tasks are completed efficiently.
- Maintain underwriting trackers, registers, and documentation.
- Enter policy and client information accurately into policy administration systems.
- Support the processing of quotations, policies, endorsements, and renewals.
- Perform quality checks to ensure data accuracy and completeness.
- Assist with the preparation and issuance of policy documentation.
- Support day-to-day underwriting and operational processes.
- Assist with data validation, reporting, and information management activities.

- Strong organisational skills and exceptional attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in a fast-paced workplace.
- A positive attitude and genuine interest in building a career in insurance and underwriting.
- Recent school leavers, university students, or graduates are encouraged to apply.
- Previous experience in a customer service, administration, retail, hospitality, or office-based role (desirable).
- Currently studying, or recently completed, a qualification in Business, Commerce, Finance, Economics, Law, or a related discipline (desirable).
- Exposure to insurance, financial services, or professional services environments (desirable).
- ANZIIF studies or an interest in pursuing industry qualifications (desirable).
