About the position
The Mental Health and Wellbeing Connect Centre operates through a partnership with Mind Australia, Ballarat Community Health and Grampians Community Health. The service operates across the Grampians and Wimmera regions with the main centre in Ballarat and a satellite site in Nhill. The establishment of family and carer-led centres is a key part of the Victorian Mental Health Reforms.
The Family and Carer Peer Support Worker uses their personal experience of supporting a family member, friend or loved one who has experienced mental health challenges and/or alcohol and other drug issues to support other carers and families.
The role provides a listening ear, encouragement, practical assistance, information and guidance to people who are supporting someone through difficult times. Support may be provided face-to-face, over the phone, online or in community settings.
