About the Role
As a Defect Estimator, you will use technician reports, service documentation and internal systems to prepare accurate quotations for defect repairs and remedial works, helping customers keep their fire systems safe, reliable and compliant. We are looking for a commercially minded, customer-focused Defect Estimator to join our internal team based in our Dingley Village office.
You will work closely with field technicians, service teams, account managers and customers to make sure proposed works are clear, correctly scoped and delivered in a timely manner. Your ability to build rapport, understand customer needs and manage a busy pipeline will directly contribute to customer safety, satisfaction and business growth.
What You’ll be Doing
- Review technician reports and inspection findings to identify repair, replacement and upgrade opportunities.
- Prepare clear, accurate and commercially sound quotations for fire defect works.
- Liaise with technicians and technical specialists to confirm scope, labour, materials, access requirements and any site-specific considerations.
- Proactively follow up quotations, answer customer questions and convert opportunities into confirmed orders.
- Build strong relationships with customers by providing responsive, qualified and solution-focused support.
- Manage a pipeline of defect opportunities,
ensuring all activity is recorded accurately in CRM and business systems.
- Work with internal teams to ensure a seamless handover from quotation acceptance through to delivery.
- Identify opportunities to improve systems, enhance customer protection and support ongoing service relationships.
- Ensure all work is completed in line with company policies, pricing requirements, quality standards and relevant compliance obligations.
About You
- Proven experience estimating or service-related roles.
- Customer focused and relationship driven
- Demonstrated ability to meet and exceed targets and KPIs.
- Technical knowledge within fire, electrical, mechanical or building services industries is highly regarded.
- Familiarity with relevant Australian Standards is desirable.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent organisational skills with high attention to detail.
- Ability to build strong customer and stakeholder relationships.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capability.
- Confidence working across multiple systems and managing competing priorities.
