About the role
Mater Private Hospital Gold Coast is seeking a Purchasing Officer to work within our Procurement team. This position will be employed on a permanent full time basis, 38 hours per week. Mater has finalised the strategic acquisition of Healthscope’s Gold Coast Private Hospital, this is a significant milestone in Mater’s commitment to delivering exceptional and compassionate care to Queensland communities.
Based at our Gold Coast Campus, this role will be part of our state-of-the-art 339 bed facility located in Southport. This facility was established in 2016 and offers a wide range of specialities across Emergency, Medical Services, Orthopaedics, Bariatrics, Neurosurgery, Plastics, ENT, General Surgery, Obstetrics, Cardiac Care and Oncology.
Salary range: $39.79 - $44.25 per hour plus superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900 + access to many staff benefits!
What you’ll be doing
- Process purchase requisitions and generate purchase orders in a timely and accurate manner in line with operational requirements
- Support the delivery of purchasing services to clinical and non-clinical stakeholders to ensure continuity of supply
- Maintain accurate records of purchasing transactions and ensure supporting documentation is complete
- Assist with resolving routine purchasing, supplier or system-related queries
- Monitor and follow up outstanding orders, including backorders, to support service delivery
- Support cost-effective purchasing practices by using approved suppliers, contracts and pricing arrangements
- Assist with goods receipting, invoice matching and reconciliation processes to ensure accuracy
- Ensure purchasing activities comply with delegated authority limits and financial procedures
- Identify and escalate discrepancies or issues impacting financial accuracy
- Comply with Mater procurement policies, procedures and relevant standards
- Ensure purchasing documentation and transactions meet audit and compliance requirements
- Identify and report risks, including non-compliance or process issues
- Maintain awareness of workplace health and safety obligations relevant to procurement activities
- Work collaboratively within the purchasing team to achieve service and operational outcomes
- Develop and maintain effective working relationships with internal stakeholders and suppliers
- Provide responsive and professional communication to stakeholders regarding purchasing matters
About you
Qualifications
- Essential – N/A
- Desirable – Level 1 Procurement Certification
Skills, knowledge and experience
- Sound understanding of purchasing or procurement processes within a structured environment
- Experience using procurement or ERP systems (e.g. D365 or similar)
- Ability to accurately process transactional work with attention to detail
- Good organisational skills and ability to manage competing priorities
- Effective communication skills with ability to liaise with internal stakeholders and suppliers
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment
- Problem-solving capability to address routine purchasing queries
