Are you looking to build your experience in local government finance, revenue and rating?

Berrigan Shire Council is seeking a motivated and customer-focused Revenue Officer to join our Corporate Services team for a 12-month maternity leave position.

This is a great prospect to gain hands-on experience across Council’s rates, water, debtors, property and revenue functions. You’ll assist with maintaining accurate revenue records, processing property and rating transactions, undertaking debt recovery activities and helping our customers navigate their rates, charges and payment options.

Working closely with the Revenue Coordinator and broader Finance team, you’ll have the opportunity to develop your skills and gain valuable experience across a range of local government financial operations.

What You’ll Be Doing

- Revenue & Rating – Assist with Council’s rating, revenue, debtor and property systems, ensuring records are accurate and maintained in line with legislative requirements.

- Rates & Water Billing – Assist with the preparation and issue of rates notices, water consumption charges, debtor invoices, reminder notices and other revenue-related correspondence.

- Property & Certificates – Process Land transfers, property updates, pension rebates, Section 603 Certificates, special meter readings and other property-related requests.

- Debt Recovery – Assist with the recovery of outstanding rates, charges and sundry debts, including administering payment arrangements in accordance with Council policies and procedures.





- Customer Service – Provide professional and helpful assistance to ratepayers and customers with enquiries relating to rates, water, debtors, property information and payment arrangements.

- Finance & Team Support – Complete daily bank reconciliations, provide relief support across other finance functions and assist with projects and improvements to Council’s revenue processes.

What You’ll Need:

- Experience in a revenue, rates, debtors, customer service or administrative role.

- Experience with debt collection and payment arrangements.

- Good computer skills, including experience using financial systems and Microsoft Office.

- Strong verbal and written communication skills.

- The ability to plan, organise, prioritise and manage your time.

- A current Australian Driver’s Licence and National Police Check.

Experience in Local Government, Council rating systems such as Civica Authority/Altitude, or rates, property, water billing or debtor administration would be highly regarded.

This position is a full-time position classified at Grade D under Council’s current salary structure with a salary range based on qualification and experience between $67,230.80 to $75,675.60, plus 12% statutory superannuation and a 70-hour 9 day fortnight. Conditions are in accordance with the NSW Local Government (State) Award 2026.
