Compliance Officer – Aged Care & NDIS
12-Month Fixed-Term | Full-Time | Gladstone, QLD
Help strengthen quality, compliance and audit readiness across GCLA
Gladstone Community Linking Agency (GCLA) has been providing Beyond Ordinary care and support to people who are ageing or living with disability since 1977.
We are a registered NDIS Provider, NIISQ Provider and Aged Care provider, delivering a diverse range of services across disability, aged care and community support.
We are seeking an experienced and highly organised Compliance Officer – Aged Care & Disability Services to join our team for a 12-month fixed-term appointment, based in Gladstone.
Reporting directly to the Chief Operating Officer, this role will play an important part in strengthening GCLA's compliance systems, policy framework, audit readiness and evidence assurance across both Aged Care and Disability services.
About the role
This is not simply an administrative compliance position.
We are looking for someone who can take ownership of compliance workstreams, review and develop policies and procedures, identify gaps, coordinate evidence, monitor actions and work collaboratively with leaders across the organisation to ensure regulatory requirements are translated into practical and sustainable organisational processes.
A significant focus of the 12-month appointment will be progressing GCLA's current Aged Care and NDIS compliance priorities and strengthening the organisation's policy and procedure framework.
Key responsibilities
The Compliance Officer will:
- Coordinate the review, development and updating of GCLA policies, procedures, work instructions, forms and supporting documentation.
- Maintain and strengthen GCLA's organisational policy and procedure framework, including document control, review schedules and approvals.
- Support compliance with applicable Aged Care regulatory requirements and Aged Care Quality Standards.
- Support compliance with the NDIS Practice Standards, NDIS Code of Conduct and provider registration requirements.
- Maintain Aged Care and NDIS compliance gap analyses, action plans and evidence registers.
- Coordinate and monitor corrective actions arising from audits, gap analyses, incidents, complaints and internal reviews.
- Establish and maintain organised,
audit-ready evidence libraries.
- Assist with preparation for regulatory audits, certification, recertification and assurance activities.
- Monitor outstanding compliance actions and follow up responsible leaders regarding due dates and evidence requirements.
- Identify gaps, inconsistencies and areas requiring improvement and escalate significant compliance risks to the COO.
- Assist with compliance reporting for Executive Management and governance purposes.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives across the organisation.
About you
You will be someone who is highly organised, detail-focused and comfortable working across multiple areas of a regulated organisation.
Importantly, you will be able to do more than simply maintain registers. You will be able to look at a requirement, understand what the organisation needs to demonstrate, identify where the gaps are and help drive the work required to address them.
Mandatory Requirements:
- Experience in compliance, quality, governance, policy or a related role.
- Strong experience developing, reviewing or maintaining organisational policies and procedures.
- Experience managing compliance actions, registers, deadlines and evidence. You will also ideally have:
- Excellent written communication and documentation skills.
- The ability to interpret regulatory, legislative or standards-based requirements.
- Strong attention to detail and an ability to identify gaps or inconsistencies.
- Strong Microsoft Word and Excel capability.
- The ability to work independently, use initiative and manage competing priorities.
- Confidence working with managers and senior leaders to progress agreed actions.
Experience within Aged Care, NDIS, health, disability, community services or another regulated human services environment will be highly regarded.
Knowledge of the Aged Care Quality Standards and/or NDIS Practice Standards, as well as experience supporting audits or regulatory assessments, would be particularly advantageous.
What success will look like
Over the 12-month appointment, this role will contribute to:
- measurable progress against GCLA's Aged Care compliance action plan;
- strengthened NDIS compliance and audit readiness;
- a comprehensive review and rationalisation of policies and procedures;
- improved document control and policy review processes;
- stronger evidence against applicable regulatory standards;
- improved tracking and closure of compliance actions; and
- sustainable compliance systems that continue beyond the fixed-term appointment.
