Woolacotts Consulting Engineers is looking for an experienced structural engineer to join our senior team and play a significant role in the continued growth of our business.

We are particularly interested in speaking with an experienced Associate or Senior Associate Structural Engineer who is ready to take the next step towards Principal.

You may not yet have the title of Principal Engineer in your current organisation. That is not necessarily important to us.

What matters is that you have the technical capability, commercial awareness, client skills and ambition to take on greater responsibility and build a successful future with Woolacotts.

The opportunity

This is more than a senior technical engineering role.

We are looking for someone who wants to grow into a leadership position and help build a significant part of the Woolacotts business.

Depending on your experience, you may join us as a Principal Engineer or as an Associate/Senior Associate with a clearly defined pathway to Principal.

You will have the opportunity to:

- Develop and maintain your own client relationships.

- Identify and pursue new business opportunities.





- Lead major structural engineering projects from inception through to completion.

- Take responsibility for project delivery, quality and commercial outcomes.

- Provide high-level technical advice to clients, architects, builders and project teams.

- Lead, mentor and develop engineers and other technical staff.

- Work closely with Woolacotts' civil and hydraulic teams to deliver integrated engineering solutions.

- Contribute to the strategic growth and development of the business.

- Develop your own areas of expertise and market opportunities.

- Become an important member of Woolacotts' senior leadership team.

This could be the opportunity for you if...

You are currently an Associate or Senior Associate and feel that you are ready for more.

Perhaps you are already:

- Managing major projects and key clients.

- Winning work or contributing significantly to business development.

- Mentoring and leading younger engineers.

- Making commercial decisions.

- Representing your current firm with clients.

- Doing much of the work expected of a Principal, but without the title or prospect to build your own business.

If that sounds familiar, we would like to talk to you.

You don't necessarily need to have already been a Principal Engineer.

We are interested in what you can become, not simply the title you currently hold.

What we are looking for

Ideally, you will have:

- A degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.

- Approximately 10–15+ years' relevant structural engineering experience.

- Strong technical capability and sound knowledge of Australian Standards and relevant codes.

- Significant experience in the design and delivery of structural engineering projects.





- The ability to manage projects from concept through to completion.

- Strong communication and client relationship skills.

- Commercial awareness and an understanding of project financial performance.

- Experience mentoring and developing engineers.

- An interest in business development and building client relationships.

- CPEng, NER or equivalent professional accreditation, or the ability to obtain the appropriate accreditation.

- A proactive, commercially minded and collaborative approach.

Location

The successful candidate can be based in Sydney, Melbourne or Brisbane.
