APS6 Project Officer

Are you an experienced Project Officer who thrives at the intersection of project management, data insights, and strategic reporting? Step into an influential APS6 Project Officer position where your expertise will directly shape project frameworks, drive data accuracy, and support executive decision-making across high-impact federal initiatives.

The Details:

- Start: ASAP
- Role Type: 12-Month Contract (Full-Time)
- Location: Newcastle, NSW
- Pay Rate: $60.26 / hour + super
- Work Rights: Australian Citizenship required

Key Responsibilities:

- Develop, manage, and implement project plans, schedules, and governance frameworks.
- Collect, interrogate, and analyse complex datasets from multiple sources to identify trends, risks, and opportunities.
- Build, maintain, and enhance workforce and project reporting products, including dashboards, spreadsheets, and tracking tools.
- Prepare and quality-assure executive briefs, business cases, project status reports, and presentations.
- Monitor project budgets, track financial commitments, and support procurement and contract management.
- Identify, manage, and escalate project risks, dependencies, and mitigation strategies.

Skills & Experience Required:

- Project Management: Proven background delivering projects on time, managing risks,



tracking budgets, and navigating project governance frameworks.
- Data & Digital Capability: Advanced MS Excel expertise (pivot tables, complex formulas, lookups, data modeling) and experience with reporting platforms (e.g., Power BI, SharePoint).
- Analytical Thinking: Solid capability to turn quantitative and qualitative data into actionable insights for executive stakeholders.
- Communication & Engagement: High-level written communication skills with experience drafting executive briefs and managing stakeholder relationships.
- Government Experience: Prior public sector experience and knowledge of disability or health sectors is highly desirable.
