The recently purchased, historic Hotel Cecil in Wondai is seeking an experienced Chef to lead a small kitchen team and manage all aspects of kitchen operations.
Wondai, a warm and welcoming country town, 3 hours from Brisbane, is home to the family-owned Hotel Cecil. She needs a lot of love and care to be restored and brought back to a busy hotel. We are looking for someone professional and passionate about great pub food to work with us as we pour some love and energy into rebuilding this business. Someone who will match our energy and work with us to grow our meal services.
Couples welcome to apply- casual hours available for general cleaning and hotel/bar operations. Candidates must have Australian work rights to be eligible for this position.
What You'll Be Doing
- Taking the lead in the kitchen and keeping it running smoothly & efficiently.
- Leading a small team and mentoring junior staff.
- Throwing in ideas for specials and menus, with input from owners.
- Working to identify areas of need to contribute to growth.
- Making sure every plate looks good and tastes outstanding.
- Always act professionally to represent the business within the town & local area.
- Maintain high standards of hygiene & cleaning.
Skills & Experience required
- Minimum 2 years of experience as a qualified chef/cook
- Cert III in commercial cookery or equivalent
- Commitment to food safety and hygiene standards
- Experience in menu planning, costing, and stock management, keeping stock in check and wastage low
- Ability to work well under pressure and maintain high standards during peak times
