Cash City – Guildford, WA

Cash City is a family-owned pawnbroking and second-hand business operating since 1992, with stores in Guildford, Midland, Morley, Kelmscott and Northam.

We’re looking for a full-time Pawnbroker / Retail Sales Assistant to join our team, primarily based at our Guildford store.

This is not a standard retail job. Every day is different. Customers bring in everything from gold and jewellery, tools, phones, electronics and gaming gear through to collectables, musical instruments, vehicles and unusual items.

You don’t need to know everything, but you do need valuable general knowledge, common sense, confidence dealing with people, and an interest in learning what things are worth.

The role includes:
Buying and lending against second-hand goods
Assessing items and working out fair values
Retail sales and customer service
Testing and checking goods
Pricing and displaying stock
Negotiating with customers
Handling cash and payments
Keeping accurate records
Helping keep the shop organised and presentable
Learning about a huge range of products and valuables

We’re looking for someone who:

Has positive general knowledge of second-hand goods
Is interested in tools, jewellery, electronics, collectables, vehicles or similar
Is confident talking to customers
Can negotiate and make sensible decisions
Is honest, reliable and punctual
Is comfortable handling money
Can use computers confidently
Is willing to learn
Has retail, pawnbroking, second-hand dealing, jewellery, automotive or electronics experience — although the right person can be trained

Weekend availability is required. The role includes Sunday work, with Sundays paid at double time.

This is a hands-on role with plenty of variety. If you enjoy buying, selling, working out what things are worth and dealing with different people every day, this could suit you very well.

Full time position. Immediate start available for the right person.

Apply through SEEK with your résumé and a short introduction telling us about your experience and the types of products or valuables you know best.
