Kin Connect Case Worker – Children, Youth and Family
Kinchela Boys Home Aboriginal Corporation (KBHAC) is a not-for-profit, Aboriginal community controlled organisation supporting the men who survived the Kinchela Boys Home, and their descendants and families.
KBHAC's work addresses the trauma and lasting impacts of institutionalisation, and is grounded in restoration, healing and cultural integrity.
The Kin Connect program sits at the centre of KBHAC's survivor-led support for Stolen Generations Survivors, their descendants and families, coordinating access to health, housing, legal, social and community services and delivering connection, healing, identity and truth-telling activities across the KBH community.

About the Role
We are currently looking for an experienced Kin Connect Case Worker – Children, Youth and Family to join our team.
Key duties will include:
Work with KBHAC Survivors,



their families and descendants to identify needs and coordinate referrals to relevant service providers
Develop and maintain a network of First Nations and mainstream service providers to support effective referral pathways
Provide advocacy and case management support to clients engaged with the Department of Communities and Justice and other government and non-government housing providers
Support Homes NSW tenants affected by the Waterloo Relocation project to have their needs represented and addressed
Collaborate with local communities and organisations to build awareness of the impacts of the Stolen Generations
Organise and coordinate community awareness activities that promote access to support services
Support program logistics, workshops and events in partnership with the broader KBHAC team
Prepare and submit reports, budgets, discussion papers and other documents for internal and external stakeholders
Maintain accurate case management documentation in line with best practice and KBHAC policy
Apply trauma-informed care principles when engaging with clients and families
Travel to support Survivors and their families in their communities as required




Requirements
We are seeking a candidate who:
Identifies as an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person, in accordance with the genuine occupational qualification under section 14 of the Anti-Discrimination Act **** (NSW), as this is an identified position
Has several years of relevant experience in casework, care coordination or a related human services field
Has sound knowledge of the complex needs of Stolen Generations Survivors, their families and descendants
Has experience in trauma-informed, culturally safe and strengths-based approaches to case management
Has experience working with government and non-government service providers, including housing and community services
Has experience building relationships with Aboriginal communities and stakeholder organisations
Holds a Bachelor of Social Work or a relevant VET qualification (e.g. Certificate IV in Community Services, Social Work or Mental Health), or is working towards one
Holds, or can obtain, a current Working with Children Check clearance
Holds, or can obtain, a current National Police Check
Holds a current First Aid and CPR certificate, or can obtain one
Holds a current unrestricted NSW driver's licence
