GAZ - APS 5 - NSW - Court Support Coordinator - Court and Tribunal Services
Ongoing/non-ongoing, full time, initial 12 months with possible extension

Position Overview
The position is responsible for aiding the day-to-day management, allocation and functioning of Federal Court courtrooms and hearings.
As hearings at the Federal Court fluctuate depending on judicial listings and requirements, the position is also responsible for aiding the allocation and management of a small team of casual court officers.
The position reports directly to the Team Leader of National Court Support.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
Prepare for and manage all aspects of courtroom allocation in the NSW and ACT Registries, including preparation and publication of the daily list and distribution of video conferencing details;
Helping manage the team of casual court officers, including allocation of work, training, and administrative support;
Oversight of in-court technology, including liaising with chambers staff, the onsite transcription service and other technology providers;
Communicating and coordinating attendance of litigants with external agencies, including government agencies such as immigration detention centres;
Provide training and support for in-court processes, including opening and closing court, swearing in witnesses, and videoconference process;
Corresponding with practitioners and legal support staff in relation to videoconference procedure, including related administrative process;
Provide assistance and coordination with Court events, including seminars, webinars and ceremonial/formal occasions;
Other administrative duties, for instance the allocation of courtrooms, mediation suites and visiting chambers, as required.
Assisting other Court Support Coordinators in remote registry locations where required.
$88,834 - $96,829 per annum, plus 15.4% superannuation

Competencies & Attributes
The position requires the candidate to excel in a fast-paced and high-volume environment.
The role is required to quickly respond to in-court judicial requirements and, as such, the candidate must be able to quickly assess urgency and respond accordingly.
The position takes a significant role in the smooth functioning of the judiciary in its primary role – the listing and hearing of disputes brought before the Court.
As such, the candidate will be required to take ownership of, and responsibility for, the ongoing and changing nature of the role.
The ability to liaise effectively with the Judiciary and their staff in relation to their courtroom requirements will be key.

Selection Criteria
Strong administrative and organisational skills with demonstrated attention to detail and a capacity to perform effectively under pressure in a high-volume environment;
Ability to lead, train, develop, and performance manage a team;
Relationship management capacity,



including an ability to communicate effectively with people at all levels, including judicial officers, as well as solid interpersonal skills, including a proven ability to manage stressful and/or conflict situations in a professional manner, on a continual basis.
Ability to work with minimal supervision and as a member of an operational team;
Initiative, adaptability and sound problem solving skills, including in relation to technology.

Eligibility
Australian citizenship – the successful applicant must hold Australian citizenship.
Security and character clearance – the successful applicant must satisfy a Police Records Check and may also be required to complete security clearances during the course of their employment.
Successful applicants engaged into the APS will be subject to a probation period.
