Lotus Living Collective is seeking a compassionate and dedicated
Disability Support Worker
to join our team in Tweed Heads, NSW. This is a
casual position with an immediate start,
that offers a meaningful difference in the lives of people with disabilities. As a Disability Support Worker, you will be at the heart of our mission to provide person-centred support and enable individuals to live independently and participate fully in their communities.
This role is essential to delivering high-quality care and support that respects the dignity, autonomy and individual choices of those we serve.
Key responsibilities
Provide direct personal care and assistance to individuals with disabilities, including support with daily living activities such as hygiene, dressing, meal preparation and medication reminders
Support clients in accessing community activities, social events and recreational opportunities to promote social inclusion and wellbeing
Assist with mobility support and safe handling techniques, utilising appropriate equipment and practices
Maintain accurate and timely client records and documentation in accordance with organisational policies and legislative requirements
Communicate effectively with clients, families, carers and multidisciplinary team members to ensure coordinated and person-centred support
Promote client independence and encourage skill development through coaching and practical assistance
Respond to client requests and concerns in a professional, empathetic and culturally sensitive manner
Maintain a safe and hygienic working environment, following health and safety protocols and infection control procedures
Contribute to the development and review of individual support plans in collaboration with clients and care coordinators
What we're looking for
Certificate III in Disability (or equivalent qualification) or demonstrated commitment to obtaining this qualification
Current First Aid and CPR certification, or willingness to obtain this before commencing employment
NDIS Workers Clearance, Working with Children clearance and a valid National Police Clearance
A genuine passion for supporting people with disabilities and a commitment to person-centred care
Robust communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build trusted relationships with clients and colleagues
Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks whilst maintaining attention to detail
Physical capability to provide hands-on support and mobility assistance, with knowledge of safe handling techniques
Reliability, punctuality and flexibility to respond to changing support needs
A non-judgemental, respectful approach that values diversity and promotes inclusion
Previous experience working in aged care, disability support, health or related sectors is highly valued but not essential
A valid driver's licence and access to reliable transport is desirable for this role
