We are looking for an experienced Production Planning & Control Lead to join our Operations Team. This role can be based at either of our main facilities in Dandenong South in Victoria or Ormeau in Queensland.
About the role
The Production Planning & Control Lead is responsible for coordinating and controlling production planning and scheduling across STG operations. This is a hands-on operational role that combines strong shop-floor understanding with analytical and systems capability to ensure builds are properly planned, production-ready and delivered to agreed customer commitments. The role works closely with Production, Supply Chain, Engineering, Sales and Operations leadership and will play a key role in establishing and supporting STG's future ERP production planning environment.
Key responsibilities
Develop, maintain and communicate daily, weekly and longer-term production schedules and capacity plans.
Ensure build plans align with labour capacity, parts, chassis, modules, engineering readiness and business priorities.
Monitor actual production progress, identify risks early and coordinate practical recovery actions when priorities or constraints change.
Build strong working relationships with Production Managers, supervisors and shop-floor teams, maintaining regular hands-on engagement with production.
Coordinate closely with Supply Chain,
Engineering and Sales to resolve constraints and provide clear, realistic build and delivery forecasts.
Communicate schedule changes, risks and priorities clearly and promptly to relevant stakeholders.
Maintain accurate production planning, scheduling and capacity data and provide clear visibility of performance, risks and constraints.
Use data and analysis to support decisions, challenge assumptions and improve schedule reliability and production flow.
Support the design, implementation and ongoing management of production planning processes within STG's new ERP environment, becoming a key operational system owner/user.
Drive practical improvements to planning disciplines, production readiness, workflow and schedule adherence.
About you
Demonstrated production planning, scheduling or production control experience within a manufacturing, engineering, heavy vehicle or similar operational environment.
Strong practical understanding of shop-floor manufacturing processes, workflow dependencies, capacity and Bills of Materials (BOMs).
Strong systems capability, including ERP/MRP or production planning systems and high-level Excel/data skills. ERP implementation or key-user experience is highly regarded.
Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to build rapport and influence from the shop floor through to senior management.
Analytical, hands-on and customer-focused, with strong problem-solving capability and the drive to take ownership and deliver outcomes.
