About our program n
Treasury offers currently enrolled university students, the opportunity of a paid internship to gain real-world experience while completing their studies. Vacancies can occur at various times according to business needs and may vary in duration.
n
You will work on challenging and impactful policies, programs, research and modelling that help shape the Australian economic landscape.
You will: n
n
contribute to the broader work of the department
n
enhance your studies with practical skills and knowledge
n
complete your internship flexibly over an agreed period – placements are designed to balance work and your university studies
n
earna competitive casual hourly rate of $40 per hour.
n
n
Casual intern roles may transition to non-ongoing employment for a specified term on completion of studies.
Who can apply n
To be eligible for Treasury's Internship Program, you must meet the following requirements:
n
n
Be an Australian citizen
n
Currently enrolled at university studying a bachelor's degree or above in: n
n
economics
n
legal
n
finance / commerce
n
public policy
n
international relations
n
data
n
statistics
n
demography
n
actuarial studies
n
human resources or
n
studying any of the above as part of a bachelor's degree
n
n
Have completed 18 months of university and have between 9 and 24months remaining in your studies
n
Be performing consistently well over the course of your studies with a GPA of distinction or above
n
On acceptance into the program, be willing to: n
n
obtain and maintain a validAustralian Government security clearanceand
n
undergo any police, character, health or other checks required.
n
n
n

What you'll work on n
Internship roles are wide-ranging and matched to your field of study. You may:
n
n
develop legal, economic, demographic and other policy research, analysis and advice
n
prepare documents, correspondence and briefings (e.g. for ministers and senior executives)
n
assist in managing programs or projects
n
analyse data and produce economic forecasts and economic notes
n
provide secretariat support (e.g. for ministerial meetings)
n
support stakeholder
relationships/engagement.
n
n
