Join an established paediatric allied health practice in Stanmore Region where you’ll continue working clinically while mentoring junior Occupational Therapists and progressing toward a formal Team Leader position.
- Senior OT Role with Clear Team Leader Pathway
- Mentor & Support Junior Occupational Therapists
- Established Paediatric OT Team
- Maintain a Clinical Caseload While Developing Leadership Skills
- Collaborative OT & Speech Pathology Environment
This role is ideal for an experienced Paediatric Occupational Therapist who enjoys supporting other clinicians, sharing knowledge and helping less experienced OTs build their confidence.
You’ll join an established OT team supporting children with a broad range of developmental, functional and participation needs, while gradually taking on more responsibility across mentoring, clinical guidance and team support.
Why You'll Love this Role
- Progress Into Team Leadership: Step into a senior position with genuine scope to move into a formal Team Leader role as you build your leadership capability.
- Mentor Junior OTs: Provide clinical support, guidance and day-to-day mentoring to earlier-career Occupational Therapists.
- Stay Clinically Involved: Continue working directly with children and families rather than moving immediately into a purely managerial position.
- Established OT Team: Join a practice with a substantial Occupational Therapy team already in place, giving you the opportunity to influence and support clinicians across different experience levels.
- Broad Paediatric Caseload: Support children with autism, ADHD, cerebral palsy, developmental delay, intellectual disability, genetic differences, behavioural challenges and social-emotional needs.
- Strong Clinical Variety: Work across fine and gross motor development, self-care, regulation, school participation, play,
social skills and functional independence.
- Evidence-Based Practice: Work within a team using evidence-informed approaches including DIR Floortime principles, SCERTS and CO-OP.
- Multidisciplinary Environment: Collaborate closely with Speech Pathologists, Allied Health Assistants and other clinicians supporting the same families.
- Family-Centred Model: Work within a practice that focuses on empowering parents and carers, rather than delivering therapy in isolation from the child's everyday environment.
The Leadership Prospect
This is more than a Senior OT title.
The practice is looking for someone who can become a trusted clinical point of support for junior Occupational Therapists and gradually take on broader team responsibilities.
You may initially support clinicians through:
- Clinical mentoring and case discussions
- Supporting clinical reasoning and assessment interpretation
- Helping junior OTs work through complex presentations
- Reviewing intervention approaches and goal planning
- Supporting clinicians to build confidence with families
- Contributing to a positive and collaborative team culture
- Identifying areas where the OT service can continue to improve
As you settle into the team and demonstrate your leadership strengths, there is scope to progress into a more formal Team Leader position, combining people leadership with senior clinical responsibilities.
About the Caseload
The Occupational Therapy team works with children across a wide range of abilities and developmental presentations.
Intervention may focus on:
- Fine and gross motor development
- Emotional, sensory and behavioural regulation
- Attention and concentration
- Play and social participation
- Dressing, toileting, feeding and other self-care activities
- School and community participation
- Motor planning and coordination
- Functional independence
The practice also offers in-person, mobile and online Occupational Therapy, allowing support to be tailored around each child and family's needs.
About You
You'll ideally be an experienced Paediatric Occupational Therapist who has reached the stage of your career where you enjoy developing other clinicians as much as developing your own caseload.
You’ll likely be someone who:
- Has solid paediatric OT experience.
- Is confident with assessment, intervention planning and clinical reasoning.
- Enjoys mentoring junior or early-career clinicians.
- Is approachable and comfortable being the person others come to for advice.
- Wants to develop formal leadership experience.
- Values high-quality, individualised paediatric therapy.
- Enjoys collaborating within a multidisciplinary environment.
- Holds current AHPRA registration as an Occupational Therapist.
Previous formal Team Leader experience is not essential if you already demonstrate strong mentoring skills and are ready to take that next step.
The broader team includes a large group of Occupational Therapists, Speech Pathologists, Allied Health Assistants and support staff, providing an environment where clinicians can collaborate and learn from one another.
If you're an experienced Paediatric OT looking for your next step into leadership, without having to give up the clinical work you enjoy, this is an opportunity to build that pathway within an established team.
