About the role
As the Industry Professor, you will provide academic, research and professional leadership through:
• Championing research excellence and its application for tangible societal benefits within their own field but also school & institute wide.
• Development of ECR and MCR capabilities
• Driving engagement with government and industry to secure large-scale grants and proposals, exemplified by orchestrating monumental initiatives.
• Outcome-focussed and outcome-driven research and research project management
• Conducting core Machine Learning research to provide new enablers for contemporary big data challenges in social and business environments
• Advancing knowledge in the areas of Machine Learning
• Leading the creation of external partnerships and attracting research funding for the research centre.
About you
As the Industry Professor, you will have demonstrated success in impact-driven Machine Learning research, as well as proven experience leading a multi-disciplinary team. Other requirements will include:
• A PhD degree in computer science or a closely related area, or extensive industry experience.
• Ability to create funding opportunities through national and international research collaborations
• Demonstrated ability to manage risk, budget and cost in relation to projects
• Familiarity with the development and delivery of prototypes for use by business partners
• Strong experience in conducting applied research
• Significant experience in attracting and managing research projects to completion

Remuneration
Base Salary Range: $237,393 p.a. (Level E)
This role attracts 17% superannuation (pension) in addition to the base salary.
This position is full-time and appointment will be made on a continuing basis
