Many Rivers is seeking an experienced, values-driven Community Economic Development (CED) Manager to work alongside Indigenous Community Organisations and Communities across regional and remote Australia. This role is ideal for a relationship-focused professional who is passionate about supporting Community-led economic development, strengthening governance and capability, and helping create sustainable business and employment opportunities on Country.

This role is responsible for partnering with Communities over the long term to support governance, strategic planning, business development, stakeholder engagement and economic participation outcomes, while ensuring Community aspirations remain at the centre of all activities.

The Prospect

Reporting within the Community Economic Development Program, the Community Economic Development Manager will work directly with Indigenous Community Organisations and their Communities to identify and build upon existing strengths, knowledge and assets. Operating since 2015, the CED Program provides long-term support to regional and remote Indigenous Communities seeking to establish, strengthen or expand businesses, create employment opportunities and achieve their economic development goals.

The role involves building trusted relationships, increasing organisational capability, supporting governance and compliance requirements, facilitating strategic planning and connecting Communities with the networks, resources and opportunities required to achieve sustainable economic outcomes.

Many Rivers commits to working with participating Communities for up to five years, ensuring support remains aligned to Community priorities and aspirations throughout the journey.

Key Responsibilities

- Build and maintain trusted,



respectful relationships with Indigenous Community Organisations and Community stakeholders across regional and remote Australia.
- Support Communities to strengthen governance, compliance frameworks, strategic planning and organisational capability.
- Facilitate the development of business, economic development and employment strategies that align with Community aspirations and priorities.
- Provide mentoring, coaching and capacity-building support to Community leaders, organisations and stakeholders.
- Engage effectively with government agencies, corporate partners and community stakeholders to identify opportunities and support desired outcomes.
- Assist Communities to identify, evaluate and pursue business and economic development opportunities.
- Utilise financial information and management tools to support informed decision-making and build financial capability.
- Work collaboratively within a remote national team, sharing knowledge, insights and best practice approaches.
- Ensure activities are delivered in alignment with Many Rivers' values of Care, Respect and Accountability.

About You

You are an experienced relationship manager, advisor or economic development professional who is passionate about supporting Indigenous Communities to achieve their long-term aspirations. You bring strong stakeholder engagement skills, commercial awareness and the ability to build trust and credibility across diverse settings.

You are comfortable working independently, engaging with senior stakeholders and facilitating discussions that support governance, strategic planning and business development outcomes. Most importantly, you are committed to respectful, Community-led approaches that create lasting social and economic impact.

Please Respond to the Selection Criteria:

- Demonstrated experience working respectfully and constructively with Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Communities and individuals.
- Proven success engaging and collaborating with government agencies, corporate organisations and community stakeholders.




- An established business network and demonstrated stakeholder management experience.
- Strong financial literacy, including the interpretation and use of financial statements and financial management tools.
- Demonstrated coaching, mentoring and capacity-building capability.
- Highly organised and self-motivated, with the ability to work effectively within a remote team environment.
- Impeccable integrity, trust, respect, stewardship and cultural awareness, with a strong commitment to supporting people in disadvantaged circumstances.
- Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
- Commercial or owner-operator business experience will be highly regarded.
- Previous experience in Indigenous corporate governance or working with Indigenous governing bodies is highly desirable.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, online collaboration platforms including Zoom and Teams, and experience using client management systems will be highly regarded.
