About the role
We are seeking a commercially minded Finance Business Partner to join our Finance team within the CFO Portfolio. Reporting to the Manager, Financial Planning & Analysis, you will partner with managers and executives across the Institute, providing expert financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting and commercial advice that supports informed decision-making and business performance. This role offers the opportunity to influence strategic initiatives, contribute to organisational success, and work closely with diverse stakeholders across multiple campuses.
What you'll do:
- Partner with managers and executives to provide financial insights and commercial advice that support strategic and operational objectives.
- Prepare and analyse budgets, forecasts, financial models and management reports.
- Monitor financial performance, conduct variance analysis and provide recommendations to achieve targets.
- Develop and maintain costing models to support business planning and decision-making.
- Provide coaching and support to managers on financial performance, budgeting and reporting.
- Identify financial risks and opportunities and proactively communicate findings to stakeholders.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, financial policies and operational practices.
- Collaborate with teams across the Institute to support key projects and strategic priorities.
About You:
To be successful in this role, you will be a proactive and trusted finance professional with strong analytical capability and a passion for building effective stakeholder relationships.
Qualifications, Knowledge & Skills:
- Degree qualification in Accounting, Business, Commerce or a related discipline.
- Substantial experience providing financial advice and business partnering support to management.
- Demonstrated experience in budgeting, forecasting, financial modelling, reporting and variance analysis.
- Strong commercial acumen with the ability to translate complex financial information into practical business recommendations.
- Experience working with diverse stakeholders and building trusted partnerships across an organisation.
- Experience with Technology One ERP systems is highly desirable.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and strong proficiency in financial systems are highly desirable.
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Outstanding attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
- Collaborative, customer-focused approach with the ability to influence and support decision-making.
- Alignment with a child-protected, inclusive and values-based workplace
- Have, or be willing to obtain, Victorian Working with Children Check and National Police Check clearance.
