The Opportunity

An opportunity is available for an experienced Heavy Diesel Fitter to join a leading heavy equipment OEM, supporting an established surface mining operation in Tasmania.

This is a permanent FIFO position from Victoria, working across a large fleet of heavy mining and earthmoving equipment on an even-time 7:7 roster.

With rates of $62-$69ph plus travel allowances, accommodation and meals provided while on site, this is a great opportunity for an experienced mining mechanic looking for strong earning potential alongside the stability and technical development of an OEM role.

The Role

Working at an established Tasmanian surface mine, you'll be responsible for the ongoing maintenance, repairs and technical support of a large mobile equipment fleet.

Your day-to-day will include:

- Technical troubleshooting, diagnostics and fault finding
- Scheduled servicing and preventative maintenance
- Breakdown repairs and component changeouts
- Working across engines, transmissions and hydraulic systems
- Mechanical, hydraulic and electrical diagnostics
- Reading schematics and technical drawings to identify faults
- Liaising with site personnel and providing a high level of customer service
- Completing accurate reporting on maintenance and repairs

The Roster & FIFO

Enjoy an even-time 7 days on / 7 days off roster, giving you a full week away from work between each rotation.

FIFO is provided from Victoria, with accommodation and meals included while you're on site.

Ground transport to and from the mine is also provided at the beginning and end of each rotation, with 1.5 hours of travel time paid at standard rates at both the start and end of your swing.

Your Skills & Experience

We're looking for an experienced Heavy Diesel Fitter / Diesel Mechanic with a strong background working across mining or heavy earthmoving equipment.

To be considered, you'll need:

- Recognised Diesel Mechanic / Heavy Diesel trade qualification - preferably Certificate III in Mobile Plant
- Previous experience working on mining or heavy earthmoving equipment
- Exposure to major heavy equipment brands such as Komatsu, Hitachi, CAT, Volvo or Hyundai
- Strong diagnostic and fault-finding ability
- Experience across mechanical, hydraulic and electrical systems
- Ability to confidently read schematics and technical drawings
- Strong safety focus and high standard of workmanship
- Ability to work autonomously and as part of a site-based team
- Reliable, punctual and team-focused approach

Previous OEM experience and advanced diagnostic knowledge will be highly regarded.
