About the role
Julyardi Aboriginal Corporation is seeking a full time FDV Collective Impact Officer to join our team in South Hedland, WA. This is a one-year fixed-term contract, with extension subject to funding. This hands-on role sits at the heart of community, working directly with Hedland Aboriginal Strong Leaders (HASL) Elders whose cultural authority and governance will guide the restructuring and remodeling of family and domestic violence services.
You will support HASL Elders to meaningfully lead this process, ensuring that any remodeling of current service models is grounded in culture, shaped by community, and reflective of the voices of those most impacted by family and domestic violence in the Hedland region.
A central focus of this role is the capacity building and strengthening of the ACCO sector, walking alongside Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations to grow their capability, confidence, and readiness to lead and manage future services.
Key Responsibilities
- Support and facilitate HASL Elders to lead cultural governance processes in the restructuring and remodeling of family and domestic violence services
- Coordinate and facilitate meaningful community consultation and engagement with Aboriginal community members, families, and stakeholders across the Hedland region
- Work collaboratively across sectors to support cross-sector collaboration between government, non-government, and community organisations in the FDV space
- Actively capacity build and strengthen ACCO sector organisations, walking alongside them to grow their confidence, capability, and readiness to lead and manage future FDV services
- Document and report on community consultation outcomes, planning progress, and collective impact activities to support decision-making and accountability
- Build and maintain strong, trust-based relationships with HASL Elders, community members, ACCOs, and key stakeholders
- Support governance and planning processes that centre Aboriginal self-determination and community-led outcomes
Skills and Experience
- Demonstrated experience working with Aboriginal communities, particularly in the Pilbara or similar regional and remote contexts
- Demonstrated experience in community development, project management or a related field
- Robust understanding of and commitment to Aboriginal self-determination, cultural safety, and community-led approaches
- Strong understanding of the complex issues surrounding family and domestic violence, particularly in regional and remote communities
- Experience in community engagement, consultation,
or community development roles
- Proven ability to build and maintain respectful, trust-based relationships with Elders, and Aboriginal community members
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to build trusted relationships across community, government, and non-government sectors
- Proven track record of working collaboratively with diverse stakeholders to achieve collective impact
- Experience in or understanding of the ACCO sector, including capacity building and organisational strengthening
- Ability to work with initiative, manage competing priorities, and navigate complex cross-sector environments
- Understanding of collective impact approaches and cross-sector collaboration
- Empathy, cultural awareness and a deep commitment to improving outcomes for vulnerable community members
Other Essential Requirements
- Full Class C Driver’s License with driving history compatible with coverage by organisations insurance provider
- Satisfactory Police Check dated within the past 6 months (or willingness to obtain)
- WA Working with Children Check (or willingness to obtain)
