ABOUT FARE

The Foundation for Alcohol Research and Education (FARE) is a not-for-profit organisation with a vision for an Australia free from alcohol harms – where communities are healthy and well and where laws, policies and programs are fair, equitable and just.

We work collaboratively with local communities, people with lived experience of alcohol harm, values-aligned organisations, health professionals, researchers and governments across the nation to raise community awareness of alcohol harms, advocate for policy change aimed at preventing alcohol-related harms and increase accountability of companies that fuel harm.

FARE employees work flexibly from office hubs in Canberra, Melbourne and Adelaide, as well as from other locations around Australia.

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Health Programs Assistant Director is a newly created role within the Health Programs team. The Assistant Director will manage a team of five direct reports to continue to achieve the objectives of FARE’s National FASD Program. The role is responsible for project and budget management, stakeholder engagement, procurement, contract management and reporting, and building and maintaining key relationships to ensure FARE’s programs are successful.

The role will have a high degree of autonomy within the Health Programs team, reporting to the Health Programs Director.

Due to the nature of the role we are looking for candidates with the capacity to work full-time.

WHAT YOU WILL BRING TO THE TEAM

- Demonstrated ability to lead, coach and support team members to achieve shared objectives by operationalising strategic priorities into explicit work plans, deliverables and performance outcomes, and fostering a culture of collaboration and collegiality.





- Provide strategic advice on the development and dissemination of health promotion materials.

- Demonstrated capacity to manage projects, delegate effectively and prioritise competing demands.

- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, adaptable to many stakeholder settings.

- Experienced in project management, including implementation of grant activities in line with contractual agreements and key milestones and financial management

- Academic qualifications in public health, communications, management or other relevant subject area, or equivalent professional experience.
