The Warehouse & Dispatch Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operation of the warehouse and dispatch function. This is a hands-on supervisory position. The Warehouse & Dispatch Supervisor is expected to actively assist with picking, loading, unloading, container emptying and general warehouse duties while also coordinating the team and daily workflow.
Key responsibilities
- Oversee the day-to-day operation of the warehouse and ensure orders are picked accurately and within required timeframes
- Ensure customer orders are dispatched accurately and on time, and coordinate daily dispatch and delivery priorities
- Monitor warehouse stock levels and replenishment requirements, and ensure stock ordering is completed accurately and at appropriate times
- Coordinate the arrival and unloading of incoming containers, and organise the safe and productive emptying of containers
- Prepare and maintain rosters for warehouse and delivery staff, and ensure sufficient staff are rostered based on expected workload, deliveries and container arrivals
- Ensure drivers are aware of all COD deliveries before leaving the warehouse and follow up with drivers regarding outstanding or missing COD payments
- Provide leadership and direction to warehouse and delivery staff, including setting daily priorities, clearly communicating expectations, and training staff in warehouse and dispatch procedures
- Ensure warehouse and dispatch activities are performed safely, ensure appropriate manual-handling procedures are followed, and report hazards, incidents, injuries and unsafe practices immediately
- Maintain an organised, clean and efficient warehouse and monitor warehouse workload and prioritise work throughout the day
- Identify operational issues or delays and take appropriate action
