We are seeking dedicated Female Lifestyle Assistants (Disability Support Workers) to join a specialised 24/7 support team supporting a female individual in her early 20s.
About the Role
The individual is diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Intellectual Disability, and Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD). The individual is non-verbal and requires support with:
- Daily living activities
- Community access and appointments
- Personal care
- Following established routines and support strategies
- Positive Behaviour Support implementation
Roster Requirements
Successful applicants must be available to work a combination of:
- Day shifts: 8:00am - 4:00pm
- Sleepover shifts: 4:00pm - 8:00am
- A minimum of one weekend per fortnight
High-Intensity Behaviour Support Environment
This role is suited to experienced support workers who are confident supporting individuals with complex behaviours, as well as resilient and motivated individuals who are willing to learn, embrace training opportunities, and develop their skills in a high-intensity support environment.
This individual presents a range of complex support needs and behaviours, including:
- Physical aggression towards others
- Throwing items
- Property damage
- Absconding/running from support staff
- Spitting or transferring bodily fluids
- Food-seeking behaviours
Applicants must be able to remain calm, consistent, skilled,
and safety-focused while implementing the individual's Positive Behaviour Support Plan (PBSP).
Staff utilise the individual's vehicle for community access, appointments, and recreational activities. The vehicle is fitted with a safety barrier, and applicants must hold a current driver's licence and be comfortable transporting the individual.
All role-specific training will be provided to successful applicants.
What We're Looking For
- Experience supporting individuals with complex and high-risk behaviours
- Understanding of Positive Behaviour Support practices
- Ability to remain calm and resilient in challenging situations
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Strong verbal and written English communication skills are essential due to the individual's non-verbal communication needs.
- Current First Aid and CPR, or willingness to obtain
- NDIS Worker Screening Clearance (or ability to obtain)
- Current Australian Driver's Licence
- Reliable, comprehensively insured vehicle
- Australian working rights
- Availability for a 24/7 rotating roster
