Lead the delivery of major infrastructure for NSW
We are seeking an experienced and strategic Director, Projects to lead the delivery of complex capital works and major infrastructure projects within Projects NSW.
This senior leadership role provides strategic, technical and commercial leadership across the full project lifecycle, from planning and design through to delivery. Working with multidisciplinary teams, contractors, consultants and government stakeholders, you will drive the successful delivery of projects while balancing competing commercial, stakeholder and delivery priorities
About Projects NSW
Projects NSW delivers priority infrastructure projects on behalf of the NSW Government, working closely with government agencies and the private sector to achieve value for money and positive community outcomes.
Our work includes some of the State's most recognised infrastructure projects:
- Barangaroo
- Bank Street Park
- New Sydney Fish Market
- Powerhouse Ultimo Revitalisation
- Powerhouse Parramatta
- Penrith Stadium
- There may be new and exciting regional projects in our future pipeline
About the Role
Reporting to the Executive Director, Projects, you will provide senior management, professional and technical leadership across the planning and delivery of major projects.
You will be accountable for delivering projects within approved scope, budget, schedule, quality and risk settings while contributing to project governance, capability and delivery excellence across Projects NSW.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading project planning, design and delivery to achieve agreed outcomes across the end-to-end project lifecycle
- Managing project schedules, costs, risks and resources to support timely delivery and value for money
- Overseeing complex commercial, contractual and technical matters
- Securing planning approvals and maintaining compliance with sustainability, heritage, environmental and statutory requirements
- Managing works to support safe delivery and minimise disruption to stakeholders and the community
- Building productive relationships across government, industry and the community
- Leading multidisciplinary teams and supporting capability, accountability and performance
- Contributing to effective governance and continuous improvement across Projects NSW
About You
You are an experienced infrastructure leader with a track record of delivering major projects in complex stakeholder environments.
You will bring:
- Experience leading the planning, design and delivery of major infrastructure or building projects
- Strong commercial acumen and experience managing complex contracts, risk and project outcomes
- The ability to build trusted relationships and influence outcomes across government, industry and the community
- Experience operating in complex environments where sound judgement, stakeholder management and effective decision making are critical
- A collaborative leadership style and a focus on achieving outcomes through others
