St John NT is seeking a capable, motivated and hands-on Data Analyst to strengthen our analytical capability and deliver high-quality, reliable operational and clinical reporting across Ambulance Services.

This is an analytics and business intelligence role focused on SQL Server, Tableau, data quality and applied operational analysis.

Reporting to the Ambulance Data Analytics and Systems Lead, you will help ensure that critical ambulance reporting is accurate and fit for operational and executive decision-making.

Why Join St John NT?

St John NT is the Northern Territory’s leading provider of emergency medical response and preparedness. Our mission is to save lives and build community resilience - improving safety and healthcare outcomes for all Territorians. We do this through a wide range of services, including ambulance operations under contract to the NT Government, emergency medical coordination, major event health coverage, nationally accredited first aid training, and community education.

What you will do

- Develop and maintain SQL queries, data extracts and reporting views across ambulance data sources.

- Build and maintain Tableau dashboards and recurring operational, clinical and government reports.

- Combine information from multiple systems while managing duplicate records, missing identifiers and one-to-many relationships.

- Investigate discrepancies, reconcile conflicting results and validate data before publication.

- Analyse operational performance and translate findings into transparent advice for executives, managers and governance committees.

- Maintain reporting documentation, data dictionaries, business rules and version control.

- Support data-warehouse enhancements, system integrations, testing and digital transformation projects.

- Manage recurring reporting obligations and ad hoc data requests with minimal supervision.

- Handle identifiable patient, employee and operational information in accordance with privacy, confidentiality and information-governance requirements.

What you will bring

- Demonstrated experience in a data analyst, business intelligence or operational reporting role.

- Practical SQL Server skills, including multi-table joins, aggregations, subqueries or window functions, duplicate management and data validation.

- Experience developing or maintaining dashboards using Tableau or a comparable business intelligence platform.

- Demonstrated ability to cleanse, reconcile and validate data obtained from multiple systems.

- Experience producing recurring reports and responding to complex ad hoc data requests.

- Ability to interpret results and communicate findings clearly to non-technical stakeholders.

- Strong attention to detail, personal accountability and the ability to manage competing priorities independently.

- Sound understanding of privacy and confidentiality when working with sensitive information.

- Relevant tertiary qualifications in data analytics, statistics, business intelligence or a related discipline, or equivalent demonstrated experience.

General IT support, infrastructure, software-development or database-administration experience alone will not meet the requirements of this position.

What we offer

- Competitive remuneration and salary packaging of up to $15,899, plus meal and entertainment benefits of up to $2,650.

- Six weeks’ annual leave.

- Professional development and career-growth opportunities.

- Employee assistance support for employees and their immediate family members.

- Flu vaccinations, discounted health insurance and other health and wellbeing initiatives.

- Physical fitness reimbursement.

Application requirements

Applicants must:

- Have a current legal entitlement to work full-time in Australia.

- Be based in Darwin or be prepared to relocate to Darwin before commencing.

- Submit a résumé and cover letter addressing their practical SQL, dashboard-development and data-quality experience.

Shortlisted applicants will be required to complete a job-relevant skills assessment covering SQL Server, data analysis, data quality and Tableau.

If you can demonstrate hands-on analytical capability and want to support evidence-based ambulance service delivery across the Northern Territory, Apply now, we look forward to seeing your application.
