Own key month-end, balance-sheet, compliance and audit processes, ensures accounting treatments comply with Group policies and applicable accounting standards, and builds effective relationships across Operations, Merchandise, Sales, Marketing and Group Finance.
My client is a leading ASX retailer.
Description
- Lead the delivery of accurate and timely financial reporting, month-end close activities, and accounting processes for a large multi-site business segment.
- Prepare and review month-end journals, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, internal policies, and approval requirements.
- Own balance sheet integrity through high-quality reconciliations, investigation of variances, and resolution of aged or unsupported items.
- Analyse monthly financial performance against budget, forecast, and prior year results, providing insightful variance commentary and recommendations.
- Coordinate external audit processes, manage audit deliverables, respond to auditor queries, and ensure remediation actions are completed.
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards, tax requirements, and corporate governance policies, including advising on complex accounting matters.
- Drive process improvement, automation, and reporting enhancements to increase efficiency, strengthen controls, and improve business insights.
- Partner with operational and commercial stakeholders to provide accounting advice, financial analysis, reporting, and decision-support.
- Support system implementations, upgrades, and the development of tools and processes that improve operational and financial performance.
- Lead, coach, and develop a Financial Accountant, ensuring effective work allocation, strong controls, and ongoing capability development.
Profile
- Tertiary degree in accounting/finance or related
- Exposure to retail/FMCG/inventory heavy environments would be ideal
- Demonstrated experience owning month end close and financial reporting
- Strong grasp of technical accounting and accounting standards
- Mid Tier/Big 4 Audit background a bonus
- People leadership experience highly valued but not requisite
- Strong communication is non negotiable, while this is a technical role, you will partner with operations, sales, marketing, merchandise and need to build relationships here.
Job Offer
- $120,000 - $140,000 + Super
