Geospatial Information Systems (GIS) & Assets Officer
Salary: $93,590.64 per annum

Full Time – Permanent
Greater Shepparton City Council, situated in the heart of the Goulburn Valley, is the fifth largest provincial centre in Victoria and has a well-developed economy due to its solid agricultural and irrigation base, with major industries related to food processing, manufacturing, transport and health care. The Goulburn Valley is often referred to as 'The Food Bowl of Australia' as around 25% of the total value of Victoria's agricultural production is generated in this area.
Greater Shepparton has a population of approximately 69,000 and is culturally rich with 17.4% of residents being born overseas. The area has excellent education, recreation, cultural, social and health facilities and tourism is a developing focus for the region.
The GIS & Assets Officer will be responsible for:
- Managing and improving Council’s GIS systems, capabilities and services
- Providing GIS and associated technology support services to Council departments
- Ensuring the accuracy and currency of Council’s GIS and Asset data
- Providing mapping products, spatial datasets and data analyses to both internal and external stakeholders
- Developing and maintaining GIS infrastructure and web applications
- Adding new assets into Council’s asset management system
- Preparing data extracts, reports, and dashboards to support business needs
The ideal candidate will have:
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in a spatial information related discipline, or relevant experience in the implementation of a corporate GIS service.
- Extensive experience using GIS software such as ArcGIS Enterprise and QGIS, and other related technologies such as FME
- Experience using asset management software such as Confirm, Maximo or similar
- Experience maintaining asset databases and spatial datasets
- Strong attention to detail
