JIVARO recruitment
Melbourne
Jivaro is proud to partner with Oroton, one of Australia’s most iconic premium lifestyle brands, on the appointment of a Womenswear Designer - Mainline Apparel.
This is an exciting opportunity for an established designer to join Oroton’s Womenswear team and play an important role in shaping the seasonal collection. Working closely with the Creative Leadership team, you will contribute across the full design process, bringing a strong creative point of view and considered product design.
About Oroton
Established in 1938, Oroton has evolved over the decades to become a modern lifestyle brand synonymous with craftsmanship, premium lifestyle and a distinctive Australian sense of beauty.
The brand continues to evolve while remaining grounded in its heritage, quality and considered approach to design.
The Role
Oroton is looking for an established womenswear Designer who can hold their own creatively, someone who brings ideas, has a strong understanding of the Oroton aesthetic and can confidently contribute to the creative conversation. You will balance creative thinking with commercial awareness and technical execution, collaborating closely with the wider design, production, patternmaking, garment technology and merchandising teams to bring collections to life.
At the same time, this is a highly hands-on role, so organisation, communication and the ability to manage the detail behind the design process are equally important.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Contributing to seasonal design concepts, colour palettes, fabrications, silhouettes and collection direction
- Designing and developing womenswear product aligned to Oroton’s brand DNA and aesthetic
- Creating detailed technical sketches, specifications and design documentation
- Supporting the development of product from initial concept through sampling and production
- Working closely with the Senior Designer to evolve and refine the collection
- Researching fashion, colour, fabrication, trend and market direction to inform seasonal design
- Collaborating with Production, Patternmaking, Garment Technology and Merchandising to ensure design intent is maintained through to final product
- Reviewing samples and providing considered feedback on fit, fabrication, construction and finish
- Maintaining accurate design documentation, samples and product information
- Managing the day-to-day organisation and administration required to keep the design process moving
- Contributing to a collaborative, positive and highly detail-focused team environment
