What you'll be doing

This position will continue to develop the Aboriginal Mental Health workforce in Mid North Coast Local Health District(MNCLHD) by promoting and providing culturally appropriate mental health services to the local community in a stepped and supported approach whilst working in a multidisciplinary team. The successful applicant will be required to undertake a 3 year undergraduate program which currently includes 3 residential blocks per year.

The primary aim of the Getting on Track in Time (GOT-IT!) program is to improve a schools capacity to respond to children with challenging behaviours and other mental health concerns.

Getting On Track In Time (GOT-IT!) is a school-based mental health early intervention service for children in year's kindergarten to year 2 who display disruptive behaviours and emerging conduct disorders. The program will work with children, parents, carers and school staff and aims to prevent mental illness and behavioural disorders in later life and improve educational outcomes. GOT-IT! Will provide opportunities for partnering with local services. In particular family referral services will assist in providing linkages with appropriate NGOs and family support services.

About You

Applicants must be of Australian Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Island descent. Aboriginality is a genuine occupational qualification as authorised under S21 of Anti-Discrimination Act 1977.

Your strong organisational skills enable you to effectively manage competing priorities while maintaining a focus on learning and delivering quality support to consumers.

You work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams and value the importance of building positive relationships with Aboriginal individuals, families, communities, health professionals, and community organisations. Your well-developed communication and interpersonal skills allow you to engage respectfully with people from diverse backgrounds, advocate for culturally appropriate care, and contribute to meaningful health outcomes.
